Everyone books June. The regulars book October. Here’s why the quiet months are when this place is really itself.
The Island belongs to you again
After the summer, the Island goes back to the people who love it: amber leaves, crisp air, softer light, quieter paths and beaches you can hear again. Autumn is when our regular guests say the Island shows its best self — dramatic coastal scenery without the crowds.
The woodburner earns its keep
There is something about a fire in a treehouse that turns everyone into a story-teller. The Nest’s woodburner glows all evening, the Roost’s dining deck is made for blankets and hot chocolate, and the Shepherd’s Hideaway has the outdoor hot tub option — steam rising into cold air is the whole holiday in one image.
Winter has its own calendar
The season isn’t empty: the Autumn Walking Festival fills early October with 90 guided walks, Fiesta of the Dead lights up Blackgang Chine over half term, and Illuminate brings a light trail and Christmas village to Robin Hill from 11 December to 1 January. Pair a festival weekend with a cosy base in the woods and you have the best of both.
Open all year, for all of it
We’re open 365 days a year — sunny summer stays, cosy winter getaways, and everything in between. Whether it’s a couple’s retreat in the Nest or the whole crew across all three accommodations sleeping up to 14, the quiet months are ours to enjoy.
